How Much Did The Oyakhilome Foundation Award To Young Leaders As Grants?
The Future Africa Leadership Award (FALA) program of the Oyakhilome Foundation has awarded a total of $125,000 to the top ten awardees.
The purpose of this financial assistance is to support the development projects that these young leaders have suggested for their respective nations.
Olajumoke Ola-Akinsanya, the Senior Executive Officer of FALA, made this news on Thursday at a media event in Lagos.
Disclosing the Victors
According to Ola-Akinsanya, the organizers reviewed 30 nominees through a screening procedure based on their applications.
The top 10 were selected from this pool following a rigorous screening procedure. These ten recipients each earned a $10,000 stipend, and the overall winner also received a $25,000 star prize.
Selection Criteria
Ola-Akinsanya elaborated on the selection process, stressing the importance of the initiatives’ effect and creativity.
The initiatives’ capacity to solve regional issues and advance self-sustainability was evaluated.
Initiatives that were workable and realistic in the context of the continent were prioritized rather than merely replicating concepts from outside Africa.
Speaks of the Triumphant
The ultimate winner, Mariama Gendemh of Sierra Leone, thanked the donors and gave an overview of how she intended to use the funds.
Gendemh emphasized that the goals of her foundation are to solve several economic concerns and problems related to food security in Sierra Leone.
The money will be essential to their growth, especially in terms of feeding undernourished kids using a cutting-edge agricultural strategy.
“We are using agriculture as a powerhouse to implement the initiatives through the provision of foods for the malnourished kids,” she clarified, adding that the company is not solely focused on food security.
Our agricultural goods are intended to be used in a communal food initiative that we have started; they are not for sale.
The farm serves only as a resource to support us in carrying out our endeavors. This grant will enable us to increase the scope of our operations.
The Goal Of The Oyakhilome Foundation
Temisan, who was identified as an Oyakhilome Foundation representative, clarified the purpose of the award.
The organization recognizes and honors exceptional young African leaders to overcome the continent’s leadership shortage.
Temisan claims that the purpose of the award is to recognize the significant contributions that young African Americans have made to their communities.
The fundamental idea is that individual community development initiatives can contribute to the continent’s overall development.
The purpose of the prize, he said, is to honor young Africans who have made a difference in their communities. If everyone made a difference in their communities, the continent would advance.
We have granted the award to 123 young Africans from 30 different African countries because we believe that only Africans can improve Africa.
The foundation’s dedication to grassroots development is demonstrated by the statement, “We cannot rely on the government to do all the development; that is why we are putting this effort through the man of God, Pastor Chris, to develop Africa.”
How Much Did The Oyakhilome Foundation Award To Young Leaders As Grants?
Finally, It is clear from considering the importance of the awards given that the Oyakhilome Foundation is dedicated to more than just providing funding.
Young leaders who are actively pursuing sustainable solutions in their communities are to be empowered by this project.
It begs the question, to what extent may these awards affect the African continent as a whole?
The Future Africa Leadership Award from the Oyakhilome Foundation has acknowledged the value of enabling young leaders to effect change at the local level in addition to offering financial support.
There is little doubt that the grants given out will help bring creative and significant projects to fruition all around the continent.
As we honor the accomplishments of the top ten winners, it is evident that these kinds of programs are essential to developing a new generation of African leaders who are dedicated to the continent’s sustainable development.
